Tribal concrete is a very austere cement box, the size of a building block, with an ornamental impression on one face.
It results from Ornamento e Pregiudizio, a long-term project on the role of taste in evolution for all living organisms. The research focuses on ornament as a universal code language to communicate belonging to a social group.
Whereas modern architecture is pure and functional, this object is ornamented and (almost) pointless. The austere rationality is corrupted by a very common tribal tattoo, understood as the symbol of popular taste.
